What are the different voting options available to residents of North Carolina?

 

Residents of North Carolina can vote on Election Day, during the Early Voting period, and can also request an absentee ballot.

When is Election Day this year?

 

Election Day is November 8, 2022. Polls open at 6:30am and close at 7:30pm. You have the right to vote as long as you are registered to vote, and arrive at your designated polling place before 7:30pm.

No, you do not need a photo ID to vote in the state of North Carolina.

The Early Voting period allows voters to cast their ballot before Election Day. Early Voting In North Carolina runs from October 20, 2022 to November 5, 2022.

How do I request an absentee ballot? What is the deadline to request it?

 

All registered voters in North Carolina can request an absentee ballot and vote by mail. 

To request an absentee ballot voters must register to vote by mail before November 1 using this link: https://votebymail.ncsbe.gov/app/home or by downloading, completing and delivering this form.

How do I vote by mail? What is the deadline to send the absentee ballot?

 

In North Carolina you need to mark your ballot in front of two (2) witnesses or one (1) notary public. You can find out more information about the requirements here: https://www.ncsbe.gov/voting/vote-mail/detailed-instructions-vote-mail#2-complete-ballot

 

Absentee ballots can be returned in-person to your county’s Early Voting centers or at your county’s Board of Elections office. Additionally, absentee ballots can be mailed and must be postmarked no later than November 8th and received on or before November 14, 2022.
