What are the different voting options available to residents of Michigan?

Residents of Michigan can vote on Election Day, during the Early Voting period, and can also request an absentee ballot.

When is Election Day this year?

Election Day is November 8, 2022. Polls open at 7:00am and close at 8:00pm. You have the right to vote as long as you are registered to vote, and arrive at your designated polling place before 8:00pm.

Do I need a photo ID to vote?

Yes, you need a photo ID to vote in the state of Michigan.

What is Early Voting and how do I find the Early Voting locations in my county?

The Early Voting period allows voters to cast their ballot before Election Day. Early Voting In North Carolina runs from October 20, 2022 to November 5, 2022.

How do I request an absentee ballot? What is the deadline to request it?

All registered voters in Michigan can request an absentee ballot and vote by mail. 

To request an absentee ballot voters must register to vote by mail before November 1 using this link: https://mvic.sos.state.mi.us/avapplication.

How do I vote by mail? What is the deadline to send the absentee ballot?

Absentee ballots can be returned in-person to your county’s Early Voting centers or at your county’s Board of Elections office. Additionally, absentee ballots can be mailed and must be postmarked no later than Monday, October 24, 2022 and received on or before November 8, 2022.

I’m in the military and live overseas, can I vote?

If you are a Michigan resident in active duty in the military and live outside of the country, you may request an absentee ballot using the Federal Postcard Application (FPCA) portal.
